The Honest Test

Five Questions Most Owners Cannot Answer on the Spot

Not because they are careless. Because the answers live in a bank app, an email folder, a shoebox and someone’s memory, and nothing pulls them together.

If more than two of these make you reach for your phone to check, the problem is not effort. It is that nobody owns the close.

Talk It Through With Us
01

What did you actually make last month?

Not what landed in the bank, but what you earned after the bills that had not hit yet. Those are different numbers, and only one of them is true.

02

Who owes you money right now, and for how long?

Most businesses discover a 90-day-old invoice by accident. By then the conversation is awkward and the money is a maybe.

03

How much of the money in your account is already spoken for?

GST collected, super owed, PAYG withheld. It is sitting in your account looking like profit, and it is not yours.

04

Is your payroll actually right?

Correct award rate, correct super, STP filed on time. If nobody has checked in a year, the odds are not in your favour.

05

Could you hand your books to your accountant today?

If tax time involves a fortnight of digging and a bill for “additional work”, you are paying twice for the same job.

What We Do

Four Parts of the Same Job

Plenty of bookkeepers will code your transactions. The value is in what happens around that: payroll that runs on time, an industry-shaped chart of accounts, and software set up so the reports mean something.

Bookkeeping Services

Bank feeds reconciled, bills and invoices processed, GST coded correctly, and a month-end pack that closes on a date you can put in the calendar.

Payroll Services

The full cycle run for you: timesheets checked against the award, payslips issued, STP filed with every run, and super scheduled before the quarterly deadline.

Industry Specialists

A tradie needs job costing. An NDIS provider needs participant-level claims. A café lives or dies on wages percentage. We set the books up for the business you actually run.

Your Software, Properly Set Up

Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks configured around your workflow, with the chart of accounts, bank rules and reports it should have had on day one. Or migrated cleanly if you are on the wrong one.

What It Costs

Cheaper Than the Problem It Solves

Bookkeeping starts at $25 a week. For most businesses that is less than one hour of the time they currently spend on it, and it comes back to you as a reconciled file, a named bookkeeper and numbers you can act on while they still matter.

One fixed fee. Quoted up front and unchanged month to month. We do not bill by the hour.
No lock-in contract. One month’s notice. Your subscription stays in your name and you keep the file.
Your accountant charges you less. Reconciled books mean they prepare rather than rebuild at year end.

The Monthly Close

Follow One Month Through Our Close

Most bookkeeping is invisible until you ask for something. Ours runs to a published timetable, so you know what is happening to your numbers and when they will be finished.

Days 1–3 · Everything in

Bank and card feeds pulled, receipts collected from your app or inbox, supplier bills entered and matched to what was ordered.

Days 4–6 · Coded and matched

Every line coded to the right account with the right GST treatment. Anything we cannot identify goes on one short query list, not fifty emails.

Days 7–8 · Reconciled and checked

Bank, credit card and clearing accounts reconciled to the cent. Payroll, super and GST control accounts checked against what was actually filed.

By day 10 · In your inbox

A short pack: profit, cash position, who owes you, what you owe, and the one or two things we think you should look at. Two pages, not twenty.

The Owner’s View

Two Pages You Will Actually Read

A twenty-page report gets filed unread. So we send the five numbers that change what you do next, with a written note on what moved and why.

  • Same date every month. By the 10th, without you asking. If we are going to be late, you hear it from us first.
  • Written in English. “Your wages came in at 34% of sales, up from 29%”, not a variance table you have to decode.
  • Set aside, not spent. The GST, PAYG and super you owe, shown separately from what is genuinely yours.

How We Start

From First Call to First Close

Four steps, about two weeks, and nothing changes in how you work day to day. We fit around your existing file rather than rebuilding it, and if it does need rebuilding we will say so before you commit.

Step 01

Free Consult

Thirty minutes on a call or in person. You describe the business; we ask what is currently painful and what tax time looks like.

Step 03

Fixed Monthly Quote

A written scope and a fixed monthly fee. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices for “extra time” on a busy month.

Based in Sydney, Working Australia-Wide

We are based in Sydney and happy to sit across a table with you. But the work itself is cloud-based, so where your business is has never decided whether we can look after it.

Why Elite Bookkeeping

What You Get Beyond Coded Transactions

Anyone with the login can categorise transactions. What is harder to find is someone who closes on time, tells you what the numbers mean, and flags the problem in week two instead of at tax time.

  • A fixed close date. The 10th. Bookkeeping that arrives whenever it arrives is not a service, it is a hobby.
  • Fixed monthly fees. Quoted in writing after we have seen your file. You can ask us a question without watching a clock.
  • We work with your accountant, not around them. Clean books handed over in the format they want, so their bill goes down too.
  • Your file stays yours. Your subscription, in your name, with you as the owner. Leaving us costs you nothing but a click.

What Owners Ask Us First

The questions that come up in nearly every first conversation.

It depends on transaction volume, whether payroll is involved and what state the file is in, which is why we look before we quote. We work on fixed monthly fees rather than an hourly rate, so the number does not move because a month was busy. Book a free consult and we will quote your exact fee in writing after looking inside your file.

No, and we would rather say so plainly. Lodging a BAS on your behalf requires registration as a BAS agent with the Tax Practitioners Board, and we are not registered. What we do is prepare and reconcile everything so the BAS is a five-minute job for your registered BAS or tax agent: GST coded correctly, control accounts checked, and a reconciliation they can rely on. Most of our clients already have an accountant, and this is exactly how that relationship is meant to work.

It is normal, and it is fixable. We quote catch-up work separately from the ongoing monthly fee so you can see exactly what the backlog costs and decide how far back to go. In most cases we start with the current financial year to stop the bleeding, then work backwards. Nobody here will make you feel bad about it.

Usually not. We work across Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks, so whichever you are on, we can pick it up. We only recommend moving when the platform is genuinely holding you back, and then we show you what the migration involves and what it costs before you decide.

Both. We are Sydney-based, so if you are local we are glad to meet for the first conversation and whenever something warrants a face-to-face. The monthly work itself is done in the cloud, which is why roughly half our clients are outside Sydney and it makes no difference to the service.

Your accounting file stays in your own subscription with you as the owner. We work inside it as an invited user, and you can remove that access at any time. We use multi-factor authentication on every system we touch, and we never ask for your internet banking password. What we need is read-only bank feed access, which is a different thing.
