We Close the Books on Time, Every Month
Elite Bookkeeping is a Sydney-based bookkeeping and payroll practice working with small and medium businesses across Australia. We are not trying to be your accountant, your adviser or your software vendor. We do the books, properly, on a date you can rely on.
Almost Every Business Has the Same Complaint
Not that their bookkeeping is wrong. That it is late, or invisible, or that they never quite know where things stand without asking someone and waiting.
We kept meeting owners who were paying for bookkeeping and still could not answer a straight question about their own business. Did last month make money? Who owes us? How much of this balance is the ATO’s? The books existed. Nobody could tell them anything.
So we built the practice around one commitment instead of a list of services: the month closes by the 10th, and you get two pages you can actually read. Everything else we do exists to make that promise keepable.

Five Positions We Will Not Move From
These decide what we recommend, what we decline, and occasionally why we tell someone they do not need us.
A close date or it is not a service
Bookkeeping that arrives whenever it is finished cannot be planned around and cannot inform a decision. The date is the product. Everything else is detail.
You own your file
Your subscription, in your name, with you as the owner. We work inside it as an invited user. If you ever want to leave, you revoke access and keep everything.
Say what we are not
We are not registered BAS or tax agents. We do not lodge, we do not give tax advice, and we will not improvise on employment law. Knowing the edge of your competence is part of having any.
Two pages, not twenty
A report nobody reads has failed regardless of how correct it is. We send the handful of numbers that change what you do, written in English.
Tell people what they do not want to hear
That the file needs rebuilding. That the software is fine and the setup is the problem. That they are underpaying someone. Costing ourselves a project by being straight has never once been the wrong call.
We Are Not Right for Everyone
Being clear about this saves us both a meeting.
A good fit
- Turnover from roughly $200k upwards
- On Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks, or willing to be
- Wants to know the numbers, not just satisfy the ATO
- Happy to answer one query list a month
- Has an accountant, or is willing to get one
Probably not us
- Looking for someone to lodge your BAS, which we cannot do
- Wanting tax planning or structuring advice
- Chasing the cheapest hourly rate available
- Wanting records prepared to show something they do not
- Unwilling to have anyone look inside the file
Four Things That Are Always True
The 10th
Last month is closed and in your inbox. If something will delay it, you hear that from us before the date, not after.
One named person
The same bookkeeper every month, who knows your suppliers and your quirks. Not a shared inbox and a rotating queue.
One query list
Batched, short, and sent at a predictable time. Never a trickle of small questions while you are trying to work.
Multi-factor everywhere
On every system we touch. We never ask for internet banking passwords, only read-only bank feeds you set up and can revoke.
Sydney, and Wherever You Are
We are based in Sydney. If you are local, we are glad to meet for the first conversation and any time something is worth talking through face to face rather than over email.
The work itself happens in the cloud, in your own accounting file, which is why a good half of our clients are nowhere near Sydney and it makes no practical difference. Australian GST, Australian awards, Australian business hours, and a person in your time zone who answers.
Have a Look at Us Properly
Half an hour, no obligation, and you will leave knowing what state your books are in whether or not you ever hire us.
